Things seem to keep going from bad to worse for Liverpool FC since that loss to Manchester United last month.
Daniel Sturridge has been ruled out for the rest of the season and Brendan Rodgers confirmed the Englishman won’t be able to come back before that. Sturridge has appeared in only 18 of Liverpoola s 52 matches this season, something which shows to an extent why the Reds have failed so supremely this season.
Rodgers said, “It’s been difficult. Daniel is a good lad who wants to play and work and help the team but it’s been one of those seasons for him.
“He’s been very unfortunate. We’ll have to monitor him day by day and see where he’s at.
“When he’s been fit, he’s been brilliant — but it’s just a case of getting him back on a consistent basis. Whether that’s this season, or in preseason, has to be seen.”
Steven Gerrard suffered a knock against West Brom and the fact that he played the full 90 minutes just three days before makes it likely that the 34 year old will start on the bench if he is involved.
Mamadou Sakho’s involvement in the game is also unlikely which will mean Dejan Lovren has the chance to build on the good form he showed against the Baggies.
Adam Lallana could be fit enough return to the starting line-up after he was brought on from the bench against West Brom, giving the Englishman a chance to show his worth before the season ends.
Probable Line-up (3-4-2-1): Mignolet; Can, Skrtel, Lovren; Ibe, Henderson, Allen, Moreno; Lallana, Coutinho; Sterling
