Liverpool FC last night announced the sacking of manager Brendan Rodgers after he won just three off the eleven games in 2015-16 season. Liverpool fans had been calling for the head of the manager for sometime now, and while a majority agreed with the decision, the thanked the manager for giving them some of the best moments of their life following an amazing 13-14 season in which the Reds nearly won the league.

Brendan Rodgers’ tenure at Liverpool FC came to an end following the 1-1 draw at Everton. The Norther Irishman came within a whisker of attaining legendary status at Anfield a couple of season ago, with a Steven Gerrard slip the fine line between success and failure.

Rodgers went on to lose Luis Suarez in the following summer and injury to Daniel Sturridge coupled with poor signings by the Liverpool transfer committee (of which Rodgers is a part) led to a dismal 14-15 season that turned most Liverpool fans against the manager.

A lot of people expected Rodgers to get the sack, but, he was retained in the summer by owners Fenway Sports Group, who trusted him with the 80m GBP money the Reds spent on renewing the squad, again.

However, a poor start to the new season had the fans calling for his head once again and FSG decide to sack the manager last night.

Liverpool fans, majority of them, wanted Rodgers gone. But, as the news of the sacking emerged, most o them thanked the manager for his services as the reactions below indicate.

My favorite BR moment would be when I sang ‘He’ll win the league for us’ from the crowd in Bangkok and he smiled and gave me a thumbs up.

All the best to Brendan Rodgers in the future. Gave us one of the best season’s we’ve witnessed in the Prem. Good luck in the future! a Steven Gerrard (@Gerrard8FanPage) October 4, 2015

If Liverpool’s owners had lost faith in Brendan Rodgers why give him such a brief chance to restore their confidence? Mismanagement by FSG. a Paul Hayward (@_PaulHayward) October 4, 2015

As much as I hate to say it Rodgers never nearly won us the league, he lost it.

So Rodgers has gone. A decisive move from FSG. Wonder how many of Liverpool’s “transfer committee” will join him. A horribly flawed strategy a Phil McNulty (@philmcnulty) October 4, 2015

It was obvious to anyone who understands football that Rodgers had to go after Stoke. Which explains why FSG decided he should stay.

Think Rodgers would have built Liverpool into a force again but we’ll never know. He’ll be in demand now and he’ll have a point to prove a Oliver Holt (@OllieHolt22) October 4, 2015

I’d like to say thanks to Brendan #Rodgers for making Liverpool play the best football in my lifetime #LFC

a Dan Kennett (@DanKennett) October 4, 2015

I personally give Rodgers full credit for 2013/14. He created a great side. But in football that seems a long time ago. #LFC a Paul Tomkins (@paul_tomkins) October 4, 2015

Cheers Brendan Rodgers. Like him or not, he definitely loved the club. Heart always in right place. Can’t question that. Farewell #WeGoAgain

Given that Liverpool spent A?62.5m on Firmino & Benteke, 2 players desired at various stages by BVB under Klopp, did FSG really back Rodgers?
