Liverpool FC Manager Felt ‘Alone’, As Fans Left Before The Final Whistle In Loss To Crystal Palace

As Liverpool FC fell to their first defeat under new manager Jurgen Klopp’s reign, the German said that he felt “alone”, at the sight of dejected fans leaving the stadium, before the final whistle.

The Reds lost their Premier League encounter with Crystal Palace 2-1, as they slumped to the 10th position on the Premier League. However, a number of the Liverpool FC fans started leaving the stadium, as Scott Dann scored the winning goal for Crystal Palace in the 82nd minute.

Earlier, Philippe Coutinho had cancelled out a 21st minute Yannick Bolasie strike on the 42nd minute, to level the scores before the half time.

“I turned around and I felt pretty alone at this moment but I am not disappointed about this (fans leaving) — they have reasons,” Klopp was quoted as saying on Sky Sports. “But we are responsible that nobody can leave the stadium a minute before the last whistle because everything can happen.

.

“Between 82 and 94 [there were four minutes of added time] you can make eight goals, if you want but you have to work for it,” continued Klopp. “That is what we have to show and we didn’t, and things are like they are. We decide when it is over.”

Sakho injury compounds Klopp’s problems

To double Klopp’s woes, Mamadou Sakho walked off from Anfield in crutches with braces around his knees. Sakho incurred the injury after having an aerial clash with Bakary Sako, in which he landed rather awkwardly and injured his knee.

a It looks bad but we have to wait for the scan. I would prefer to lose 4-1 and keep him in the team,” said Klopp about Sakho’s injury, to The Guardian.

Sakho is scheduled for a scan on Monday, to determine the extent of his injury, and Klopp would certainly be hoping that it is not too serious an affair, as his side faces a difficult trip to league leaders Manchester City after the end of the international break.
