Liverpool FC played horribly against Watford on Sunday, but goalkeeper Adam Bogdan accepted the blame for the humiliating 3-0 loss.
The Reds had gone to Vicarage Road on the back of a spirited performance against West Bromwich Albion at Anfield, as Liverpool equalised with the help of a deflected shot from Divock Origi. However, faced with a strong Watford side, Jurgen Klopp’s side wilted under pressure as the Hornets ran riot on the day.
“Watford were really good but we a and myself a gave them a headstart,” Bogdan was quoted as saying by Liverpool FC’s official website . . a I dropped the ball, of course. Therea s a mistake there. After that, I felt my hand was on the ball and I was going to bring it out.”
Bogdan was referring to the first Watford goal scored by Chelsea FC loanee Nathan Ake. There was quite a bit of controversy about the goal, as Ake seemed to have kicked the ball out of the keeper’s hand, which might explain the Bogdan howler.
There are no ifs and buts for the Hungarian goalkeeper though, as he took responsibility for an error that did cost dearly.a Obviously he knocked it out of my hand a but we are talking about split-seconds. Through the bodies, of course ita s hard to see. Ia m not blaming anybody but myself to drop the first ball,a said Bogdan.
Bogdan to get a second chance?
Jurgen Klopp might be a kind man, but Bogdan may not get a second chance anyway. The German manager’s first choice keeper Simon Mignolet was not played on Sunday because he had a hamstring problem, but the Belgian seems to be recovering well from that. There is a good chance that Mignolet might make a comeback under the bar on the Boxing Day match against Leicester City, which would mean Bogdan’s role at Anfield would be once again, to warm the benches.
