Liverpool FC – Ferdinand Labels Sterling’s A?50 million Price Tag A Joke

Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has questioned Liverpool FCa s A?50 million valuation of Raheem Sterling, insisting that the English players are ridiculously overpriced.

Raheem Sterlinga s transfer saga has turned into a soap opera this summer as Manchester City are seemingly willing to pay through the roof for 20-year-old winger, while Liverpool are unwilling to step down from their unreal demands. At this point it is almost hard to identify which is worse.

The England international has kept no secrets about his desire to leave the Merseyside club, but despite his tantrums Liverpool have held their stance about selling him only if their asking price is met. Manchester City have already failed with two bids of 30 million and 40 million pound respectively, and incredibly report suggest that they are lining up a third bid, this time much closer to Liverpoola s valuation of A?50 million.

Despite Sterlinga s potential to be a world class, a A?50 million price tag is almost scandalous for someone who has such little experience. City have been forced to meet Liverpoola s demands not based on talents, but mostly because he will count as a talented home grown player.

Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has labeled Sterlinga s (and Tottenham striker Harry Kanea s) price tag as a joke, pointing out how players like Sergio Aguero and Alexis Sanchez came at a cheaper price.

Some fans were quick to remind Ferdinand of the fact that he twice became the most expensive defender during his transfer from West Ham United to Leeds following by another record breaking move from Leeds to Manchester United. But the 36-year-old Englishman explained that he had a lot more experience than Sterling at that point in his career, including appearances in the World Cup. Ferdinand also supported the notion that this humongous price tags on English players is partially driven by the home grown rule of FA.
