FC Barcelona star Lionel Messi says Argentina a absolutely have to wina against Uruguay in Copa America

Lionel Messi has warned his Argentina teammates that Tuesdaya s Copa America clash with Uruguay is a must-win encounter after the Los Albiceleste stumbled to a 2-2 draw with Paraguay.

Argentina let a two goal lead slip away as Paraguay came back to equalize late into the injury time in the group B clash.

Argentinaa s shaky defensive display in the second half has raised doubts about their ability to produce a title-winning performance in Chile, where they are chasing a first major championship in 22 years.

Lionel Messi, who comes on the back of a sensational season with FC Barcelona with 58 goals and winning the treble, had a hand in one of Argentinaa s goals before scoring the second from the penalty spot.

However, the forward was left red faced after what looked like being a comfortable opening victory ended in a draw.

.

“We were at fault in that we should have had more of the ball in the second half and controlled the match, not they,” said Messi, who left the field head bowed after Saturday’s Group B match at La Serena.

a To be leading 2-0 and to end up with a draw makes me angry,a the Argentina captain said.

“We should have slowed the match down when they were coming at us,” he told reporters.

“Now we have to think about Uruguay and we know we must win. There’s a lot to improve and this is only the first match, now we’ve got to be calmer than ever.’
