Leicester City Goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel Praises Manager Claudio Ranieri For His Methods

Goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel has been an integral part of the table-topping Leicester City team this season and recently spoke about manager Claudio Ranieri and his methods.

The 29-year-old Danish international said that the best thing manager Claudio Ranieri has done is to let Leicester City play in a similar manner to how they did last season, when they were struggling against relegation, without bringing about dramatic changes.

“He came into a side that was working pretty well, we won six or seven of our last 10 games in the Premier League. We were on a good run and had good momentum,” Schmeichel said, according to Sky Sports.

“He has come in and he has got different ideas about a few things, but the most important thing, and what he deserves the most credit for, is he hasn’t come in and tried to change everything. He recognised that things work quite well and has let us get on with it… But for a coach to be adaptable like that is fantastic.”

Their time to shine

Both Kasper Schmeichel and Claudio Ranieri have had brushes with greatness, with the latter being manager at Chelsea FC before being replaced by Jose Mourinho in 2004 and the former, son of Manchester United legend Peter Schmeichel, a Manchester City player before being ousted by Joe Hart.

It looks like this is the time to shine for these two who were rejected by their clubs just as soon as they were taken over by the riches of Roman Abramovich at Chelsea and the Abu Dhabi United Group at Manchester City. But the duo, along with other fearless upstarts at Leicester City, are now proving that money can’t buy you everything — at least not in football.
