Jurgen Klopp will be interested in a move to the Premier League and will not be restricted to a top 4 club, claimed his agent.
Liverpool were heavily linked with the German coach before reports emerged of FSG backing Brendan Rodgers to lead them in the coming season, with some ultimatums.
The Reds endured a miserable campaign that saw them finish sixth in the league and without silverware for the third consecutive season.
Klopp has decided to take a break from football after ending his successful spell with Borussia Dortmund following a loss in the final of the German Cup.
Kloppa s agent Marc Kosicke has gne on record to state that the manager will be interested in a move to the “exciting” Premier League. Interestingly enough, he has even spoken about the model in which Klopp is ready to work – under a sporting director. This was something FSG initially wanted at Liverpool but Brendan Rodgers rejected that before taking over and the owners then decided to form a transfer committee instead, a feature in the working of the club that has caused much anger and controversy among the fans.
Kosicke said, a The Premier League is very exciting, And we do not only think about the top four because there are some other great clubs below them. But I am not sure the profile of the job could work.
a In Germany there is a clear separation between manager and sporting director and I think in principle this is very good. Jurgen does not like to speak to playersa agents or to carry out a transfer. So we have to see which is the most useful arrangement.a
Kosicke added that Champions League football wasn’t a requirement to attract Klopp who would be more interested in a “challenge”.
a It is always all about the challenge,a he said. a When Jurgen signed for Dortmund there were other clubs who had better prestige and were in better financial mood at this time. Nevertheless he decided for Dortmund.
.
a He has the great ability to develop things. If he goes into a stadium, feels the energy and thinks that he can make a difference here, this could be more attractive to him than going with the big deals and aim for the treble.a
FSG have reportedly backed Brendan Rodgers for this season, and Klopp too has decided to take a break from football so these comments by his agents are confusing. However, this will definitely give the Liverpool owners a hint of the availability of a manager of tremendous pedigree who could be willing to work at the club.
