Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has quashed speculation that his job is under threat after a spell that has cost his side the chance to finally win a trophy since 2011 and probably even a top four spot.

There have been reports that Liverpool could consider going after Borussia Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp in the summer as the German revealed last week that he’ll step down at the end of the season.

When asked if the club will stick with him, Rodgers replied in confident manner and said, “Very much so, I don’t think there’s anyone better, that’s the reality of it.

a Three months ago I was a tactical genius and performing to a good level. We lost a couple of games, some important ones, and now youa re not so good. But thata s football, people speculate.

a Thata s why I dona t get carried away when we win and not too disappointed when we lose. I have a strong relationship with the owners.

a At a club like Liverpool you will have many names a in my time alone a lot have been mentioned. Ita s part of being at a huge club which is respected worldwide. We’ve had former managers linked in the past and will continue throughout my time because ita s such a great job and great club.”

The Ulsterman is under severe pressure after his side’s FA Cup exit at the hands of Aston Villa and how the team looked toothless. Rodgers led a mini resurrection starting from January that saw the Merseysiders pick up eight wins in ten games and subsequently close the gap between themselves and fourth-placed Manchester United to just two points. However, two successive defeats to their top four rivals Manchester United and Arsenal has now again created a seven-point gap that could prove to be too much with five games remaining.

The defeats were a big set back, and the loss against Aston Villa was an even bigger one as it will now mean Rodgers is the first manager in 50 years to go trophyless for Liverpool. Roy Hodgson too failed, but he managed for close to half a year. The fans were pinning their hopes on the FA Cup after a season where they could have ended their long wait for the Premier League trophy, but sadly, Rodgers failed to deliver again on the big day as he was clearly out thought by Tim Sherwood, something which hasn’t been taken too well by the Liverpudlians.
