Serie A Champions Juventus line up a shock a 40 million bid for Arsenal FC’s record signing Mesut Ozil, according to reports in Italy. The Old Lady want to sign the German attacking midfielder to replace the outgoing Paul Pogba and Arturo Vidal.
Arsenal FC who for most of the transfer window have been heavily linked with a move for Juventus’ tenacious Chilean midfielder, Arturo Vidal, might have to resist Juventus from going after one of their prized assets in Mesut Ozil. The 26-year-old is at the top of the wish list of the Italian giants, according to daily, . Tuttosport.
Juventus who have already seen veteran midfielder Andrea Pirlo depart for the MLS, are keen to cash in on 28-year-old Arturo Vidal, while Paul Pogba, Europe’s most coveted midfielder is on the wishlist of almost all top European clubs like Barcelona, Manchester City and Paris Saint Germain to begin with. The German World Cup winner along with Chelsea’s Oscar has been identified by the club as replacements, who have already secured the services of former Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira on a free.
According to the report, if either of the two midfielder’s depart, as is most likely to happen, the Turin club would take their chances with Mesut Ozil. It further adds, that if a a 40 million transfer cannot be agreed for the Arsenal number ten this season, then the Turin club are ready to wait for a year, to materialize the transfer.
Ozil, who experienced a rather torrid start to his Arsenal FC career, has recently shown signs of returning to his best form in Arsenal colours, and manager Arsene Wenger would be reluctant to let the German leave, as the Gunners do not have a shortage of funds, as was the case earlier, which led to the transfer of former stars like Cesc Fabregas, Samir Nasri and Robin Van Persie.
Wenger, a shrewd negotiator has also not been known to sell players at a heavy loss, and according to the report, the Juventus bid will see Arsenal FC make a loss of A?13.7m, which all but rules out it’s possibility of it being accepted by the Gunners. Ozil, only 26 is at the peak of his powers and the arrival of the German coincidentally or not matches with the end of the Gunner’s 9 year wait for a trophy, winning the FA Cup twice in succession.
