Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool FC To Play Like Brendan Rodgers’ Side: Pochettino

As Liverpool FC travel to White Hart Lane under new manager Jurgen Klopp, Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has stated that he expects the Reds to play in a style similar to the one under former manager Brendan Rodgers, against Arsenal FC.

Liverpool drew 0-0 with Arsenal FC in what was easily their best performance this season, especially the first half that saw the Reds create two fantastic chances, and if not for goalkeeper Petr Cech’s heroics, would have scored at least twice.

Pochettino expects a repeat of Arsenal performance by Liverpool

Speaking ahead of the game against Liverpool FC, the Spurs manager said that he had conducted his study on the former Borussia Dortmund manager and knows exactly what he can expect.

a In the last few months Liverpool have played in different ways and have changed the system until [the match against] Everton,a Pochettino was quoted as saying by the Guardian.

a Wea ve analysed Dortmund and the way that Klopp plays and there are similar concepts that we can take. We have some references a in the first half that Liverpool played against Arsenal at The Emirates, they played in a similar style that Dortmund played last season.a

Pochettino backs Klopp for success

.

The former Southampton manager believes that a manager of Klopp’s stature will not find it difficult to adapt to a new league, having guided the Saints to a 8th place finish in his first season in charge.

a The players have to believe in your philosophy and your ideas a thata s the first important thing,a says Pochettino.

a Then you need to know the culture, the different mentality and the different football. When you are a manager like Klopp, and you have shown the capacity to reach the Champions League final, I think you have the skill to adapt your ideas to a new culture and football.a

Klopp’s CV is indeed impressive, with the manager having proven his class by taking Dortmund to two German league titles and one UEFA Champions League final.

The German, however, needs to ensure that unlike his predecessor, who, after a great start was not able to consistently deliver good performances this season, he can continue to perform well on a regular basis.

One would imagine that Klopp’s side would be up for their first game and will want to get off to a great start by beating the London side.
