Liverpool FC defender Mamadou Sakho’s heroics against Rubin Kazan have not gone unnoticed, with manager Jurgen Klopp hailing him as “spectacular”.
Sakho has been in superb form for Liverpool FC since he came back in the squad following a combination of injuries and the poor form of Dejan Lovren.
Klopp hails Sakho
The Frenchman’s display against Rubin Kazan led the home fans to cheer a Sakho! Sakho!a at the end of the game.
Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, Klopp said: a I cana t say anything about [his position under Rodgers]. Maybe he was not fit or things like this.
a But I can understand why they shouted his name. Mama was really spectacular defending and good playing football.a
Klopp happy with the squad at his disposal
The German has not been able to call upon some of his best attackers. However, he clearly sees the positive in the situation.
a But he was not 100 percent better than the other players, so you see the game was not too bad. They tried,a he continued.
a Adam Lallana again, [Simon] Mignolet again, Emre Can again.
a I dona t know, when did Joe Allen play last time? Only because of the yellow card we had to take him out.
a Origi is young, has not played 90 minutes for a long, long time, but played 90 again this week.
a Both full-backs were on the road, ran for their lives, so we had those options, thata s what we need. mak
a Now we have to train, to work together, and it will get better for sure and then wea ll get the results.a

Sakho’s absence from the player XI had been one of the biggest selection goof-ups by Brendan Rodgers that may have cost him his job.
Dejan Lovren has always been a ticking time-bomb with his tendency to implode at regular intervals. It was baffling for many Liverpool fans that the French international, who was also arguably their best defender in 2014-15, was overlooked in favour of the Croat.
