Chelsea FC might have sacked Jose Mourinho, but the Special One is back in the news, as he is reported to have turned down an offer from Serie A side AS Roma.
The club from the Italian capital has not been performing as per expectations, hovering around the fifth position on the Premier League table, and it has been rumoured that they are about to sack current manager Rudi Garcia.
However, according to Sky Sports, AS Roma offered the managerial post to Mourinho, but the Portuguese turned them down.
Mourinho’s reign in Chelsea FC ended just seven months after winning the Premier League title, as the defending champions incredibly hovered a couple of positions and just a point above the relegation zone. Amidst rumours of discord with players and disharmony in the dressing room, Mourinho was not being able to produce the desired results — something that the club referred to in the official statement announcing the sacking of their fans’ favourite manager.
AS Roma, on the other hand, have been on a disastrous run of form, going on a seven-match win-less run in all competitions, and being knocked out of the Coppa Italia against Serie B side Spezia Calcio 4-2 on penalties after a scoreless 90 minutes and extra time.
Capello turns down AS Roma too
It seems that AS Roma are having a really difficult time to find a new manager for themselves. Along with the recently dismissed former Chelsea FC manager, AS Roma’s own former manager Fabio Capello has turned them down as well, according to English magazine FourFourTwo. Capello was in charge of AS Roma for five years, winning the Serie A with them in the 2000/01 season.
