Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho launched an astonishing attack on his star winger Eden Hazard after his side recorded a 2-0 win against Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge.
Last year’s PFA player of the year was left out of the starting lineup by Mourinho along with Matic, Oscar and Cahill in a major shake up of Chelsea’s starting XI.
Diego Costa scored one and created another as Chelsea eased to a comfortable win in front of the Stamford Bridge faithfuls to rise to 11th in the table.
Hazard later came on as a substitute replacing Pedro Rodriguez in the 83rd minute of the match.
Mourinho slams Hazard work rate
Addressing the media after his side’s 3rd win of the season, Mourinho left Eden Hazard in no doubt as to what he needs to do if he wants to win his place back in Chelsea’s starting line up.
“I left out Hazard because we are conceding lots of goals. We need to defend better,” said the Chelsea manager (via skysports.com).
“When you don’t have the ball, quality means nothing and what means [thumps chest]…you have or you don’t have.
“It was just a tactical decision, leaving super quality on the bench, but bringing tactical discipline and hoping that the team could be solid.
“Willian and Pedro did amazing defensive work and allowed the midfield players to be very comfortable. I continue that way, or he comes in our direction and tries to replicate the same work that Willian and Pedro did.”
On Diego Costa’s impressive performance in the match, Mourinho remarked, “The way he was working in the past two weeks with us, I knew clearly he would bring something positive for us.”

Jose Mourinho is the master of controversies
After Chelsea got back to winning ways against Aston Villa, one assumed that manager Jose Mourinho would steer clear of any controversies in his post match interaction with the media. But it was not to be.
Jose Mourinho came out and launched an astonishing rant against his star player Eden Hazard over the Belgian’s poor work rate. Earlier in the week, Mourinho took a dig at Arsene Wenger in his pre-match press conference and slammed the English FA for the “disgraceful” fine handed out to him.
Two weeks ago, the self anointed “Special One” came out and publicly criticised several of his players after his side lost 3-1 at home to Southampton. He further went on to label himself as “the best manager in Chelsea’s history” before challenging the club bosses to sack him.
