JosAi?? Mourinho admits he is unsure about Diego Costa’s fitness ahead of season opener

The Chelsea FC striker limped off against Barcelona on the 28th of July in Washington, and although manager Jos Mourinho claimed he would be ready for the Community Shield, the Spanish international remains sidelined

.

Blues manager Jos Mourinho claims he is in the dark over Diego Costa’s fitness ahead of his side’s first Premier League game of the 2015-2016 season against Swansea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

With LoA?c R my and new signing Radamel Falcao failing to impress in the Community Shield defeat to Arsenal, Chelsea FC fans have been left feeling a familiar sense of dread over their star striker’s recurrent hamstring injury problems.

Mourinho unsure whether Costa will be ready for Swansea

Speaking after his first ever defeat to old foe ArsA?ne Wenger in fourteen meetings between the managers, the Chelsea FC boss insisted he was unsure whether Diego Costa would return for the season opener in less than a week’s time.

Mourinho is quoted by England’s Mail Online as saying, “‘Will Costa be fit for Swansea? I don’t know. You think I’m lying, but I’m not. Two days ago he was ready to play and yesterday he trained normal.

“The next time you ask me about Costa’s fitness, I prefer not to answer. Maybe yes, maybe no.”

Costa hamstring a major issue for the Blues

The sense of uncertainty from Mourinho will be concerning for Chelsea FC fans, and understandably so. It was Diego Costa’s form during the first half of last season that gave the Stamford Bridge outfit the cushion they needed to win the Premier League trophy with three games to spare.

Although LoA?c R my is a more-than-capable back-up, the Community Shield was almost the perfect advertisement for why the Blues desperately need Costa for their biggest games. R my had a disappointing performance, finding himself caught offside far too often and failing to make an impact before being hauled off at half-time by Mourinho.

Quite simply, Chelsea FC need to find a long-term solution to this recurring problem sooner rather than later. Costa has been suffering from the very same hamstring issues since his Atl tico Madrid days, and the Blues need to explore the possibility of surgery if that is what it takes to fix the problem long-term.
