Liverpool FC’s captain-in-waiting Jordan Henderson has urged ‘outstanding’ Raheem Sterling to stay at the club.
It is widely believed that Jordan Henderson is the captain in waiting for Liverpool FC following the departure of Steven Gerrard to play in the MLS with L.A. Galaxy.
And Henderson has been quick to state in the media that the club are the best place for Raheem Sterling to grow into a top player.
“His work ethic is amazing. He is improving all the time. I hope we can keep him at Liverpool for many years, he can blossom here and become a top player.”
Henderson also defended Sterling in the recent saga involving the way his agent Aidy Ward had gone about trying to get Sterling to move clubs:
“He gets a bit of criticism because of how things have been dealt with, but I know him better as a person.
“I could not fault him as a person or a player. He is a great lad and gives everything for the team.
“For such a young lad he is so mature and does not let the outside world affect him.
.
Henderson then went onto hail Liverpool FC’s new signing James Milner:”Milner is a fantastic signing, not only as a player for his quality but as person in the dressing room, on the training field and the experience he has got – it is a massive signing.”
He also insisted that Liverpool FC as a team cannot accept performances like Stoke: “The result at Stoke was not acceptable and we know as players it was embarrassing for us and the club.
“It was a very up and down season, very disappointing but a lot of the younger lads will be able to learn from the experience.”
