The atmosphere at Anfield on Sunday evening was electric to say the least, as Liverpool FC managed a last-gasp equaliser against a resilient West Bromwich Albion side. However, the Bundesliga-styled celebration that manager Jurgen Klopp tried in front of the Kop seems to have left some of the fans baffled.
Many believe that instead of celebrating such last-gasp draws against West Brom, Liverpool FC should be trying to win these matches — especially at home. However, Reds captain Jordan Henderson believes that it was a great gesture by his team, who were merely showing their appreciation for the support the fans had showed for them.
“The crowd kept with us. Even when we were getting beat, they kept us going and we managed to get the equaliser,” Henderson was quoted saying on Liverpool’s official website. a I thought we were going to drag ourselves over the line for the winner.
“Wea re trying to create that atmosphere here even more so and the fans were brilliant,” he further said. “Wea ve got to keep that going and win games here for them.”
Henderson agrees that draw wasn’t good enough
While saying that the Bundesliga-styled celebration was a great gesture, Henderson also indicated that a draw at home against West Brom was just not good enough for a club like Liverpool FC.
a Overall, wea re disappointed we havena t won the game. It was a game we should be winning at home and we didna t do that,” said Henderson. “But at the same time, we kept going right until the end, managed to get the equaliser and kept pushing for a winner, but couldna t get it over the line.
a We need to make sure we defend set plays much better. Wea ve been working on it because ita s not good enough, to be honest. We need to keep working on it and improve quickly because ita s cost us two points.a
