Real Madrid star James Rodriguez has revealed that he tried to calm FC Barcelona and Brazil forward Neymar down following a post match brawl that saw the later sent off as Brazil slumped to a 1-0 defeat.

Brazil captain Neymar drilled the ball into Colombian full-back Pablo Armero after the final whistle, before appearing to what can be best described as a failed headbutt, at Jeison Murillo, who had tried to intervene.

A mass brawl followed the action of the FC Barcelona player who was then sent off along with Colombiaa s Seville forward Carlos Bacca.

Real Madrid star James Rodriguez revealed that he attempted to calm Neymar down after the Brazil captain was sent off.

a I told Neymar to be calm and adhere to the talent God gave him,a AS quotes the Real Madrid midfielder saying.

a I went through the same feeling when we lost to Venezuela. I was very angry that day.

.

a I think our plan worked perfectly. Everyone brings good things. Everyone made the best of their talent and we have made history. We have to be happy.”

However, not every Colombian was as supportive of Neymar as the Real Madrid star. Former Colombian international Faustino Asprilla has added fuel to the fire by claiming that the FC Barceona man belongs in Hollywood after his red card antics.

“Neymar is a footballing lie,” the 45-year-old wrote on Twitter. “Neymar, just go to Hollywood already!”

The 23-year-old will miss Brazil’s final group game against Venezuela on Sunday and could face further sanction when his dismissal is reviewed on Thursday.

Neymar has had quite a contrasting Copa America with his sensational performance for Brazil in opening game meant he single handedly dragged them to the win, and now, has caused a massive problem to the squad by getting suspended.
