Inter Milan 1-2 Wolfsburg: Itai??i??s All My Fault, Mancini Takes The Responsibility Of Defeat

Inter Milan suffered a defeat at the hands of Wolfsburg in the second leg of their Europa League tie at San Siro in which the home team was booed by the Nerazzuri fans for their awful performance. Inter Milan coach Roberto Mancini took the blame for the early exit and said that ita s all his fault.

Inter Milan had lost the first leg tie to Wolfburg by 3-1 at Volkswagen Arena but went behind after 24 minutes at San Siro via the boot of Daniel Caligiuri. Rodrigo Palacio did give them a glimpse of hope in the 71st minute but Nicklas Bendtner shattered their dream by a late half-volley.

Inter Milan fans were angry with the unimpressive display of the team and they even booed the players for their lack of enthusiasm. But Mancini took all the blame for the defeat and said that fans have every right to be angry.

a We are as disappointed as the fans and they have every right to jeer. We had the chances to score more goals, but once we went behind it all became far more difficult,a Mancini told Mediaset.

a We knew that we had to score two goals and not concede, but we never seem to end a match with a clean sheet. That changes the situation.

a Unfortunately we make mistakes and therefore concede goals. Wolfsburg are superior to us as a team right now, but the regret is that over two legs we gave them too many gifts.a

The Inter Milan boss said that his players are working really hard but there might be some fault in his training methods.

a I probably havena t been capable of teaching them what I want 100 per cent. The players are working hard and giving everything theya ve got,a said Mancini.

Midfielder Hernanes echoed Mancini’s suggestion that Inter Milan fans were right to jeer them when full-time came at San Siro.

“It was not a nice end to our European journey,” Hernanes said. “The fans were right to whistle. We have been eliminated but now we need patience from supporters.

“We did our best, we tried to make the most of our opportunities, but clearly our best wasn’t good enough. I’m sorry, at times like this we need to stand up straight and continue to try to put in good work.”
