Indian Super League: FC Goa Coach Zico Slams Atletico De Kolkata For Being Bad Hosts

While the Indian Super League (ISL) propagates building better infrastructure for Indian football Brazil legend and FC Goa coach Zico has slammed Atletico de Kolkata for failing to arrange a proper practice ground for his side.

Zico’s side had lost out to Atletico de Kolkata 4-0 on Sunday night, thus conceding the top spot on the ISL table to them. This result was a huge surprise as FC Goa were coming on the back of a 7-0 rout of Mumbai City FC, earlier. However, Zico seems to have been quite angered by the hosts, and not just because of the scoreline.

“When we host matches in Goa, we always make sure the visiting team gets a proper area to train, however, that doesna t happen here,” said Zico, speaking to Sportskeeda.com. “We make sure the guests get a better training facility than us. But here they dona t seem to follow that norm. We deserve some respect as Goa is also in the same league. Didna t expect this kind of treatment.a

The Brazilian was of course referring to the fact that Atletico de Kolkata had were themselves training at the Bidhannagar Municipaliti Ground, while they had allotted their visitors to practice at the Mohun Bagan training ground, which was reportedly muddy.

Normally both the teams practice at the Salt Lake Stadium at different times. However, as the turf at the Salt Lake Stadium had been newly laid, they were asked to train elsewhere.

ATK on the other hand have refuted these claims by saying that FC Goa were allotted the Mohun Bagan grounds as their practice time was at the same time as ATK’s.
