Chile wrecked FC Barcelona star Lionel Messia s dream of a first international title with a dramatic penalty shoot-out victory over Argentina to end their 99-year wait for a Copa America crown on Saturday.

Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez struck the winning spot-kick for Chile, as the hosts clinched a 4-1 shoot-out victory when the game ended goalless after extra time.

In open play, Argentina had much of the better chances despite injury to Angel Di Maria, who was replaced by Gonzalo Higuain, rather than Carlos Tevez.

And Gonzalo Higuain continued his woeful record in finals after missing a guilt-edged chance in the 2014 World Cup Final, the player was at it in the 92nd minute. While Lavezzia s ball in wasna t as good as it possibly could have been, Higuain was slated on the social media, again, as he was blamed for being the main culprit for stopping Lionel Messi’s march to become the undisputed greatest player of all time by winning, first, the World Cup, and now, Copa America.

If Higuain takes those two chances one year apart, is Messi the best player of all time?

That miss at the end of 90 mins was almost a metaphor for Messi and this team. He puts it on a plate, but his fellow forwards refuse to eat. a Musa Okwonga (@Okwonga) July 4, 2015

Why don’t you finish, Higua n? pic.twitter.com/9xKpcXOm8k
