Xavi has revealed his intention to come back to FC Barcelona in a few years and thinks that his former team-mates have at least a two or three more yearsa of trophy-winning left in them.
Xavi has signed with Qatar side Al Sadd after captaining FC Barcelona to a second treble in six years.
Xavia s glittering career at FC Barcelona saw him lift 25 trophies including seven league titles and four Champions Leagues.
Return on the cards
Xavi has already set his sight on returning to the club for which he is the record appearance maker.
“My objective is to return to Barcelona, my home, but before that I want to see where else I can go in the world of football,” he said.
“Returning is my great hope, but I dona t know ita ll be within the next three or four years. I aim to return once I feel ready.”
More trophies for FC Barcelona to come
With the new season approaching, Xavi believes Luis Enrique’s men are capable of repeating their success of 2014-15 again.
“Barca will have at least two or three more years of winning trophies,” the 2022 World Cup ambassador told RAC1. ” . They are a great team and a great group of lads.
“Barca are favourites for La Liga and Champions League – and repeating the treble will be difficult – but it was the same after Pep Guardiola won it and look what we did, especially considering wea d been taken for fools in January.”
Should Xavi return to the club within the next few years he is likely to work under newly elected FC Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu who is thought to be a big fan of the midfield maestro and tried to persuade him to stay on at the Blaugrana till 2018.
Should Xavi return, and as a manager, he will be repeating the trend of former midfield captain taking the charge at the Catalan giants and if he could enjoy success anywhere close to the success Enrique and Guardoila had done, well, it might be a return much awaited.
