Hull City failed to survive the drop as The Tigers drew 0-0 against Manchester United in the last game of the season.

Hull City needed a victory in order to stay in the Premier League for a third season in a row. However, The Tigers failed to do so as they saw out a stalemate at the KC Stadium on the final day of the season. Steve Brucea s side join QPR and Burnley as they finish the season placed 18th in the league.

Even if Hull would have managed to win the game against 10-men Manchester United, they would have still seen the drop as Newcastle United managed a 2-0 win over West Ham to confirm their place in the top flight for the upcoming season.

The home side had two goals disallowed for offside in quick succession during the first half itself while the away side went down to 10-men after Fellaini saw red for a rash challenge on Paul McShane.

Victor Valdes started his first game for the Red Devils and did a commendable job between the sticks. The former Barcelona keeper produced two stunning save to deny Ahmed Elmohamady and Nikica Jelavic in either halves. Another take away from the game was Angel Di Mariaa s injury. the argentine was taken off in the 23rd minute after he started a game after a long time for Van Gaala s side.

Speaking to the press after the draw, Van was full of praise for the opposition and their supporters.

Van Gaal: a It was a special atmosphere – I have never seen fans of a team who are going to be relegated be so supportive until the end. Their fans and the players were very positive, which made it difficult for us to equal their aggression and their motivation. They were fighting for a rescue, but we were fighting for a dream, to finish the season the proper way.a

The manager also spoke about Victor Valdes who started ahead of first-choice David de Gea, who might be on the verge of exit and missed the game through injury.

Van Gaal: a He is very good on the line, so this game was created for him! [Smiles] But in the first half he let one ball loose and it was a goal, so he was very lucky that it was ruled offside.a

Speaking about Fellainia s sending-off, the Dutchman said that it was stupid for the midfielder and it will be bad for him to start the next season sitting in the stands.

Van Gaal: a It is very stupid for him [Fellaini]. Next season he starts as a substitute [unavailable due to a three-match ban], because he has to sit in the stands suspended. That is very bad for a player and also bad for the manager and the team. It is worse for the individual player, because this season he also started in the stands.a
