‘Giroud Not Enough, Arsenal Need Striker To Win League’: Cazorla

Santi Cazorla has urged Arsenal FC to sign a new striker after admitting they were often short of options in attack last season.

Despite winning back-to-back FA Cup last month, Arsenal FC finished third in the league a a disappointing 12 points behind champions Chelsea FC largely due to their worst start to a league season in 34 years,

The Gunners did recover during the second half of the season thanks to an eight successive victories but, the pain of a tenth successive year without the league title continues to haunt the London side.

Arsenal FC paid for their lack of depth in the striking department as Danny Welbeck and Olivier Giroud sat out long periods of the season with injuries.

While Giroud finished only behind Alexis Sanchez as the top scorer with 19 goals last season, Welbeck managed just four goals in 25 league appearances in the 2014-15 season.

While Santi Cazorla admires the current crop at the Emirates, he has urged manager Arsene Wenger to sign another forward this summer if they are to win the league in the 2015-16 season.

.

“Yes of course [Arsenal should sign a striker] because Danny had an injury,” said Cazorla.

“We had only Giroud up front. Ita s better if we sign a new striker for the team and for the club.”

“We want to be more regular. Last season we lost so many points against small teams at home a Hull City for example a and if we want to win the league we cana t lose those points.”

Cazorla has joined Tomas Rosicky, Alexis Sanchez, Aaron Ramsey, and Mesut Ozil in stating that the club has the talents at its disposal to challenge for the title if certain small tweaks can be made to the squad to cover up for injuries.

And whilst it is definitely not up for debate that Arsenal FC could challenge for the title if they add a top goal scorer in the side, the club have often fallen short of adding the right players in every summer when it looks like they are just a signing away from winning the league.
