Gareth Bale Will Turn Man United Into Serious Title Contenders, Claims Scholes

Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes has said that Real Madrida s Gareth Bale would be perfect for his former club and turn Louis van Gaala s team into serious title contenders. Bale has endured a difficult season in Madrid and has come under great scrutiny.

Scholes, however, is convinced he would shine at Old Trafford.

a My feeling is that he would be perfect for Manchester United. Of course, as a fan of my former club I would like to see him there but, looking at it objectively, I always felt that Bale was a natural fit for United as he developed at Tottenham from a left-back into one of the best attacking footballers in the country.a

The former Tottenham Hotspur star, who scored an incredible goal in the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona and also the second goal in the Champions League final last year, has suffered several injuries that have contributed to a slightly underwhelming year.

At Madrida s home stadium The Santiago Bernabeu, Bale has been booed and whistled at while fellow players including Cristiano Ronaldo also seem to be having something of a inside conflict with the Welshman.

With Van Gaal set to be given another A?150 million in the summer, getting Bale would not be too much of an issue for the club. Yet, should United, who are only 5 points ahead of Liverpool, in the battle for fourth place not qualify for the club, it would be difficult for the club to lure Bale away from Madrid.

According to Scholes, Balea s impact, however, would be huge and could suddenly turn United into a championship winning side.

“He would be loved at Old Trafford. In return I believe he could turn Louis van Gaal’s team into serious title contenders next season. In my years at United I witnessed some signings who, over their careers, transformed the fortunes of the team.

“From Eric Cantona when I was an apprentice, to Dwight Yorke, Ruud van Nistelrooy and Wayne Rooney. These were great footballers who became great United players. Bale has the potential to make as much of an impact as any of them.”

United bought Angel Di Maria for A?60m last year, but the Argentine is reportedly unhappy at the club and is rumoured to be seeking a move away to French club Paris Saint Germain.
