Form Is Temporary, Lovren Is Permanent – Liverpool FC Fans React To The Return Of The Croatian To His Awful Best

Liverpool FC crashed to a morale-crushing 3-0 defeat to West Ham at home. The Reds’ performance was littered with defensive errors as Dejan Lovren returned to his disastrous form once again. Unsurprisingly, he was the pick of the players that bore the brunt of the Reds’ fans frustration on twitter.

Liverpool had kept three clean sheet going into the West Ham game, and the line-up deployed by Brendan Rodgers reeked of a ‘safety-first’ approach with 7 defensive players in the line-up that included Emre Can playing the furthest in midfield and Milner coming deep.

However, an early goal undid the plan. All three goals conceded by Liverpool FC were down to individual error, with the pick of the one coming from Dejan Lovren who was labelled as a potential a world classa defender by Rodgers before the game.

Lovren held on to the ball for far too long near the touchline, and was duly pocket picked by West Ham forward Manuel Lanzini. The Hammers capitalized on the mistake and went onto score their second of the game.

Liverpool FC fans were, understandably, not too pleased with the performance. And Dejan Lovren got some special mention for obvious reason.

Form is temporary, Lovren is permanent.

If Lovren was a baseball player. #LFC https://t.co/ew1Sa620b1

Lovren’s defending is like the Legacy defending mode in FIFA. Hold the button and run towards the ball like a headless chicken.

a Liverpool FC 360 (@LFC_360) August 29, 2015

As with Balotelli, the opinion on Lovren = same as day one. Hoped to be proved wrong but both are nowhere near good enough. Utter rubbish a Anfield Talk (@Anfield_Talk) August 29, 2015

Brendan Rodgers’ tactics and his selection also came under fire from the fans. Rodgers chose to change the formation after half-time that saw the Reds line up with 3 centre-backs, 1 defensive midfielders and 2 wingbacks. Liverpool FC were already trailing two nil to the away side, who had just one forward in their line up.

Gomez excellent so far this season but not an attacking left back. Lacking width on left when Coutinho is narrow Milner drifting there

Joe Gomez made the most touches (48) of any player in the first half – it’s playing right into #WHUFC‘s hands. #LFC pic.twitter.com/eUnpKAEIwT a Jack Lusby (@jacklusby_) August 29, 2015

And nobody close to benteke who simply isn’t involved enough.

a keith costigan (@KeithCostigan) August 29, 2015

3 reasons for . #LFC ‘s loss: 1) indecisive defending 2) poor subs 3) no wide player to break down West Ham’s lines. a Tom McMahon (@TomMc_Sports) August 29, 2015

Losing 3-0 at home to anyone is disgusting. Congrats to @westhamfootball & his team. Big questions over the break for the management

a Jim Fishlock (@JimFish286) August 29, 2015

The result & performance today were woeful – but it’s the lack of style & identity that’s a bigger issue for Rodgers. #LFC. a Si Steers (@sisteers) August 29, 2015

Liverpool’s performance as a whole was disappointing as per Rodgers. And the fans seems to agree.

Congrats to #WHUFC, it’s taken 52 years to win at Anfield but well deserved. #LFC have been dreadful.

Ita s a new season. But thrashed *again*. Ita s happened far too much in 2015. Shocking. a Paul Tomkins (@paul_tomkins) August 29, 2015

No excuses, not even the poor ref. #LFC poor and what’s worse is that there’s an international break coming followed by Man U away.

a LFCZA (@LFCZA) August 29, 2015

Wow. This is going from horrible to a nightmare. a Paul Tomkins (@paul_tomkins) August 29, 2015

We could play for 2 more years here and we wouldn’t score

a Green Scouser (@Green_Scouser) August 29, 2015

I could book the week off work and tell them to play on and we still wouldn’t get one here. Absolutely toothless. a Kop 305 (@Kop305) August 29, 2015

This says it all. pic.twitter.com/KgyvonTU3d
