Leo Messi, the architect of FC Barcelonaa s memorable win over Bayern Munich in the semis of UEFA Champions League, has admitted that the Blaugrana were somewhat fortunate in their win over Bavarians in the first leg.
In his 100th appearance for FC Barcelona in Europe, Leo Messi once again stole the show as his two brilliant goals put the Catalans in the commanding position against Bayern Munich, before he provided the assist to Neymar in the stoppage time.
The excellent display of Leo Messi has all but secured the entry of FC Barcelona in the final of UEFA Champions League but it ruined the home coming of FC Hollywood coach Pep Guardiola.
Speaking to the media today, Leo Messi admitted that FC Barcelona were lucky as things could easily have gone differently. The striker also warned his teammates that Bayern Munich still pose a threat in the second leg at Allianza Arena.
“We were lucky to score the first goal,” Leo Messi told reporters.
“Then the others came after that in quick succession and we have come away with a great result for the second-leg game, which is just what we wanted.
“Germany will be a tough venue. We have got a great result, but we must now go there and we can’t drop our guard.”
Leo Messi also explained his vibrant celebration after scoring against Bayern Munich. He said that it was a result of Blaugrana finally finding a way past Bavarians.
“It was just my happiness about what the goal meant. We hadn’t been able to score and it was an important goal in the tie.”
