FC Barcelona versus Real Madrid is obviously the most eagerly awaited clash of the year so far and Blaugrana defender Gerard Pique is also very keen to face Los Blancos. Pique believes that El Clasico is the most special game of the year.

The clash between these two Clasico rivals is always the special one and the importance of this weekendsa game is even more as FC Barcelona are just one point ahead of Real Madrid at the summit of La Liga. But, the Los Blancos have a very good opportunity to regain their lead at Camp Nou.

Speaking ahead of this much anticipated tie, Gerard Pique said that it is a special tie because, on most occassions, it decides the winner of La Liga.

a This is one of the most special games of the year, because of the rivalry between us and because wea re usually playing for titles against them. Theya re another great team, with great players and that makes it so much more special. You have to prepare several days in advance, but ita s always a game youa re really looking forward to,a said Gerard Pique. He was speaking to the official website of FC Barcelona.

a Winning the ClA?sico would be a very important step forward. There are ten games left and ita s very tight between us. If we get three points it also means that they wona t, and that will open a gap that might end up winning us the title. But right now wea ll only be focusing on the game, and on winning it. We can think about whata s left of the league afterwardsa .

FC Barcelona are looking in stunning form at the moment as they have qualified for the quarterfinals of the Champions League while their impressive run in the new year has also helped them to regain the top spoot in the points table. But Pique admitted that they will not start as favorites against Real Madrid.

a This isna t their best moment of the seasona Pique admitted. a But the formbook goes out the window for the ClA?sico. Each side has a 50% chance of winning. Real Madrid have Cristiano and Bale, two players that are very powerful, very fast, very dangerous in the one-on-one and who score goals. Benzema gives them balance. He looks to receive the ball and then takes on players to get into the area. Ita s vital for us to stop hima .
