This is the business end of the season and fixtures are coming thick and fast for FC Barcelona. But Luis Enrique wona t complain as his side is enjoying a great run of form and a clash against Getafe at Camp Nous tonight offers them a great chance to extend their lead at the top of the table.
FC Barcelona are looking in a great shape to win the treble this season as they are performing extremely well in all three tournaments, La Liga, Copa Del Rey and UEFA Champions League at the moment. However, Luis Enriquea s men mustna t take Getafea s challenge lightly as Real Madrid are also looking in a good form and their lead is of just two points.
Getafe, on the other hand, will be keen to secure at least one point at noisy Camp Nou tonight as they are languishing in the 13th spot in La Liga.
Team News and Tactics
FC Barcelona
Luis Enriquea s men secured all three points in a Catalan derby on Saturday. The Blaugrana are looking to win the treble this season and looking at their current form, FC Barcelona look capable enough to lift all three trophies next month.
The three man attack of FC Barcelona, comprising of Leo Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar, is arguably the best attack in the world at the moment and they wona t find it difficult to score goals against Getafe tonight.
The rotation policy of Luis Enrique was criticized a lot by the Spanish media in the first half of the season but it seems that the same is doing wonders for his midfield as, of late, the trio of Andres Iniesta, Ivan Rakitic and Sergio Busquets has formed a great understanding amongst themselves while enough rest is keeping them charged up for the important games.
There is a big boost for FC Barcelona in their defence as, for the first time this season, Thomas Varmaelen is fit to make his debut for them. This is the first occasion of this season that not a single FC Barcelona player is out injured. However, Jordi Alba is suspended for this game and Adriano is expected to start against Getafe in his place.
Meanwhile, FC Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta has asked his team-mates to treat every remaining game as a final.
“It’s both great and difficult at the same time [fighting on three fronts],” Iniesta said in a press conference. “We’re happy and content.
“Every match is a final and we really need to win every match left. We’re taking everything seriously and must keep picking up wins.”
Predicted Starting Line-up (4-3-3) – Bravo – Alves – Pique – Mascherano – Adriano a Rakitic- Busquets – Iniesta – Neymar – SuA?rez a Messi
Getafe
Getafe have some very talented attackers like Leon, Baba and Castro in their squad and many things were expected from them at the start of the season. However, Pablo Franco’s men have failed to live up to the expectations as they are languishing in the 13th spot in the La Liga.
Getafe are eight points away from the relegation zone but they will be looking to secure at least a point against FC Barcelona tonight as they are looking to finish in top ten in La Liga.
Going into this fixture, Pablo Franco’s players should take a heart from their recent results against FC Barcelona. Getafe are undefeated in their previous two games against the Blaugrana. However, their recent form is not very encouraging as they are winless in last three matches, while they suffered a heart breaking 0-1 defeat at the hands of Levante on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Getafe will continue to be without Alvaro Vazquez after the attacker underwent shoulder surgery and Pablo Sarabia will be expected to start in his position against FC Barcelona. And, speaking ahead of tonighta s clash, Sarabia looked excited to face the best side in La Liga.
“We all know it is a very difficult stadium [to go to],” Sarabia said. “We will try to do a good job there.
“We will see if we can score as last year [when they drew 2-2], but we also know the difficulties that entails.”
Getafe (4-2-3-1) a Guaita – Arroyo – Vilgaray – Naldo – Escudero – Lacen – Rodriguez – Leon – Sarabia – Castro a Baba.
Player To Watch Out For
Andres Iniesta
Andres Iniesta looked out of form in last couple of months but he made a stunning comeback in a game against Paris Saint Germain as he provided a brilliant assist to Neymar. Iniesta again performed very well against Espanyol on Saturday and expect him to dominate the proceedings of the game from midfield against Getafe tonight.
Score Prediction
FC Barcelona 3-0 Getafe
Looking at the current form of both the teams, it looks highly unlikely that Getafe will cause any trouble to FC Barcelona tonight. Expect the Catalans to run a riot against their struggling visitors tonight.
