FC Barcelona President Josep Maria Bartomeu has urged Dani Alves to sign a new contract with the club, amidst reports that the player is set to agree a deal with Manchester United.

The Brazil international is out of contract at the end of the season and will be available on a free transfer prompting interest from the United who have been linked for a move to sign Southampton’s England international right back Nathaniel Clyne, too. Dani Alves, however, remains their priority.

The FC Barcelona president has come out and said that Alves has been offered a ‘good deal’ with his ex-wife and agent Dinorah Santa Ana publicly critical of the Camp Nou sidea s handling of the affair.

a We have presented Alves with a renewal offer that is respectful towards him,a the president was quoted saying to beIN Sports.

a He knows exactly what the offer is, but it is his decision. If he asks me, I would say a sign ita because it is a good deal with Barcelona, which I consider to be the best club.a

PSG have also been linked with a move for the Brazilian star, but, reports in Spain last night suggested that the player was close to agreeing a contract with Manchester United.

The right back position has been of significant concern over the past few seasons for Manchester United with Rafael often injured and this season, failing to impress van Gaal. Centre-back Chris Smalling and midfielder Antonio Valencia were deployed in that position by United, this season.

.

Alves has been a regular in a superb season for FC Barcelona who are on their way to winning a treble should they beat Juventus in the Champion’s League Final on Saturday

Alves would be a steal on a free transfer for any side. His contract at the Camp Nou expires on July 1 and it is expected that his future will be confirmed within the next few days.
