FC Barcelona defender Jeremy Mathieu has confirmed that there was a spat between Leo Messi and coach Luis Enrique on the training ground in first week of this month.
Leo Messi and Luis Enrique have enjoyed a stressful relationship ever since the appointment of the latter as a coach of FC Barcelona. Both, the player and the coach, have refused to discuss their relationship with media but there were reports of a spat between the two earlier this month when Luis Enrique benched Leo Messi for the first game of FC Barcelona of the new year.
Jeremy Mathieu has come forward to reveal now that there was indeed a heated conversation between Messi and Luis Enrique on the training ground.
“It happened when we got back from our holidays. Suddenly, Leo lost his temper after a foul that was not given in training,” the FC Barcelona defender told RMC. “Things got tense and they exchanged some angry words. Luis Enrique then approached him in the dressing room afterwards to talk to him and that was the end of it.”
However, in spite of his controversial revelation about Leo Messi and Luis Enrique, Jeremy Mathieu was quick to downplay the importance of this incident.
“These kinds of things happen everywhere, but it’s made out to be a major thing because we are FC Barcelona,” Jeremy Mathieu said. “Things get blown out of proportion and that’s the problem.”
Meanwhile, another controversial incident concerning FC Barcelona took place yesterday when star striker Neymar was booed by the crowd at Vicente Calderon.
Neymar was the hero for FC Barcelona as he helped them beat Atletico Madrid 3-2, but the Brazilian striker was accused by Gabi as an a irritating persona . Now, the striker has taken the help of social media to hit back.
“No one is obliged to like anyone, but there is a thing called respect,” Neymar wrote on his Instagram account.
