FC Barcelona manager Luis Enrique announced that he will not rest Neymar and Suarez against BATE Borisov in the UEFA Champions League at the Camp Nou on Wednesday.

The dynamic duo have been the real thrust behind FC Barcelona’s domestic and European title charge this season, in the absence of the injured Lionel Messi. Neymar and Suarez have contributed 11 goals in the last 4 matches for the Catalan giants, moving them joint top in the La Liga table alongside bitter rivals Real Madrid.

In the Champions League, FC Barcelona sit on top of Group E with 7 points from 3 matches and are virtually assured of qualification for the knockout stage, if they manage to beat BATE on Wednesday. The other two teams in the group include AS Roma and Bayer Leverkusen.

Luis Enrique will not rest Suarez and Neymar for BATE clash

Speaking to the media after his side’s training session on Tuesday at the Camp Nou, Luis Enrique announced that he will not rest Neymar and Suarez against BATE Borisov on Wednesday in the Champions League.

The objective is to beat Bate Borisov and to win the group,a said Luis Enrique (via The Guardian).

a Obviously the importance of finishing first depends on who is second in the other groups, but we want to give a message that we are ready and prepared.a

Asked about the possibility of some of his players burning out due to the thin squad at his disposal, Enrique remarked, a It is not a worry. Last year I was able to do what I wanted with the amount of minutes that players had, even though I was criticised at the time, and now I am restricted by the number of players available.”

a We will have players back soon, along with others available in January, and we will see if then we can arrange the minutes played because I am aware that the trophies are disputed in the final months and that is the key.a

Asked about the latest injury updates on Lionel Messi, Enrique inevitably replied (via ESPNFC), “Leo’s recovery is going normally for his injury.”

.

“The doctors could explain. Every recovery is different, for each player, but there is no news — neither positive nor negative. All is normal for a player who is injured.”
