The defensive crisis at FC Barcelona refuses to go away as Claudio Bravo and Sergi Roberto are doubtful for the Atletico Madrid clash with Gerard Pique still suspended and Dani Alves out injured alongside Douglas.
FC Barcelona’s defensive crisis just refuses to go away. With the club traveling to Vicente Calderon to take on Atletico Madrid in a crunch tie, the last thing they wanted to hear was another player for the right-back slot out injured.
.
Barcelona’s right-back crisis has been well documented with the absence of Douglas and Dani Alves to injuries has led Luis Enrique to deploy Sergi Roberto in the slot. Roberto is now a doubt for the game with a hamstring injury after missing Monday’s training session.
However, Adriano was seen on the training ground and the versatile defender, if fit, may be drafted in. However, his match fitness will be a major concern and remains to be seen if he will be ready in time for the game.
Barcelona are also awaiting news on the availability of their goalkeeper Claudio Bravo who picked up an injury during training on Monday. The Chilean goalkeeper is racing against time to be ready for the clash with Diego Simeone’s men.
A statement on club’s official website on Tuesday said: “Analysis by FC Barcelona’s medical personnel has revealed that first-team goalkeeper Claudio Bravo has suffered a muscular injury to his right calf.
“The muscle in question is Bravo’s right soleus. He will be closely monitored over the coming days and his availability for this weekend’s match at Atletico de Madrid will be determined based on how the injury evolves.”
