Barcelona full-back Jordi Alba will miss Tuesday’s European Super Cup against Sevilla with a hamstring injury, the Spanish champions said Thursday.
Alba will be sidelined for around two weeks but should be available for the opening weekend of the La Liga season on August 21 and 22.
“Tests carried out on Thursday morning confirmed that Jordi Alba has suffered a right hamstring injury that will keep him out about 15 days,” said a club statement.
“The analysis backs up the initial diagnosis made on Wednesday night following Barcelona’s 3-0 victory over AS Roma in the 50th edition of the Joan Gamper Trophy.
“Alba pulled up lame in the second half and was replaced by Alen Halilovic.”
