Lionel Messi and Neymar scored a goal each, inspiring 10-man FC Barcelona to secure a comfortable 2-0 derby win over Espanyol. FC Barcelona captain Andres Iniesta, who got standing ovation from the Espanyol fans at the time of his substitution, was totally satisfied with the performance of his team-mates.

The trio of Messi, Suarez and Neymar looked in great touch during the whole game as they gave nightmarish time to the Espanyol defenders.

In form Neymar put FC Barcelona ahead in the 17th minute by scoring a nice goal while Luis Suarez set up another goal for Leo Messi in the 25th minute. FC Barcelona dominated the proceedings in the entire first half and another rout was on the cards.

But the Catalans went on the back-foot in the 54th minute as Jordi Alba received a red card. Espanyol did well to stop FC Barcelona from scoring in the second half but they failed to create any clear chances.

FC Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta said after the game that he is satisfied with the overall display of the team.

a It was a very complete performance. To win the derby, we had to play well,a said Iniesta after the game.

a We didna t concede many chances and were effective. Wea re happy and content.

a I prefer playing with 11. With 10, you have to make more of an effort, but we kept going and put in the type of performance needed to win the game.a

Luis Enrique also looked satisfied with the performance of his players.

a Despite the red card, we were very good. We gave few chances to Espanyol,a said Luis Enrique.

a Wea re not celebrating just yet. We still have five games left and ita s very important that we win them.a

Real Madrid visit former club of Luis Enrique, Celta Vigo, tomorrow and the FC Barcelona boss wished well to his former employers.

a I always hope Celta pick up great results.a

The win over Espanyol has put FC Barcelona five points ahead of Real Madrid in the points table.
