Eric Abidal Confirms “Long Standing Relationhip” With Paul Pogba, FC Barcelona Will Go All Out To Sign Him

Eric Abidal has revealed he has often spoken to Paul Pogba in the past and if Joan Laporta was to win the FC Barcelona election, he would make a move to sign the Juventus star.

 

The future of Paul Pogba has been the subject of intense speculation over the past few weeks, with recent . reports in Catalan media suggesting that Juventus and Barcelona have reached a gentleman’s agreement regarding the transfer of the player in 2016/17 season.

Eric Abidal, who will be the new sporting director of FC Barcelona should Joan Laporta win the presidential election that is to be held on 18th of July, has come out and said that the club will look into signing the Juventus star under Laporta and he enjoys a “Long standing relationship” with the player.

“It’d be great to have Pogba,” he told reporters, speaking at the presentation of Laporta’s proposed plans for La Masia. “I’ve a long-standing relationship with him, I send him messages, we work on projects and ideas.”

“If Joan wins, we’d make the move. I don’t know if it’s a problem that he can’t play until 2016, but I hope he comes.”

“The messages are not just about football, but to know how he is. All players want to win and Barca have just won the treble.”

Laporta had earlier claimed that he will sign Paul Pogba from Juventus, if he wins the election on 18th of July.

He insisted that Pogba is a enthusiastica about signing for the Catalan club, and also has also confirmed that Juventus are looking to sell the player at the right price to him should he become the president.

Catalan newspaper Sport had on Sunday claimed that Juventus had the following three offers on the table for the former Manchester United youngster: a 80m + a 10m in add-ons from FC Barcelona to purchase in July 2016, a 50m + Brazilian midfielder Oscar from Chelsea FC to purchase this summer, and a cash-only a 100m offer from Manchester City to purchase the France international this summer.

It was then confirmed that Barcelona did have a bid rejected for the Juventus star.

However, Catalan newspaper Sport, yesterday, were adamant that a gentlemana s agreement has been reached between the two clubs with the deal to be sealed after the FC Barcelona presidential election on 18th July with Paul Pogba set to move to the Catalan giants for 2016/17 season.

The former Manchester United man is not short of suitors, with a host of top European clubs, including Chelsea FC, Manchester City, PSG, and Real Madrid looking to snare him away from Turin. However, reports in Italy as well as Spain tout the Catalan giants as favorites for for his signature.
