Liverpool Handed Boost In Digne Race; Agent Says Player Could Leave PSG

A few days back, reports emerged that Liverpool were interested in acquiring PSG’s highly rated left-back Lucas Digne.

The 21-year-old is also a target of AS Roma as well as Valencia, who were so far said to be holding the aces in the playera s pursuit.

According to . Get French Football News, Liverpool are in pole position to land the youngster. They write: Liverpool are currently in advanced negotiations with PSG over the possible transfer of left-back Lucas Digne. The deal would be a straight transfer, not a loan, but no fee agreement has been reached at the time of writing.

Digne began his career at Lille where after his debut in 2011, he made around 60 appearances. In 2013, PSG signed the youngster from their rivals for a sum of around a 15 million.

This season, Digne only featured 14 times in Ligue 1 for PSG, as Maxwell enjoyed a fantastic season on the left flank for the Parisians. The Frenchman needs to move to a club where he will feature more and enjoy first team football as he wishes to be part of French national team squad for EURO 2016.

It is also mentioned in the report that the player himself wishes to move to AS Roma, if at all, as he will reunite with Rudi Garcia there and sees himself getting more game-time with the Italians and is presently unsure if he could get the same at Brendan Rodgers’s side.

AS Roma’s proposal of a season-long loan offer for the player with a a 13m buy-out option has been rejected by PSG but the Serie A side has not given up on the deal.

It is understood that PSG will only sell the player on a profit (some believe that a a 18m sum could get them interested) and when they find a suitable replacement for him as Maxwell only has one year remaining on his contract.

Lucas Dignea s agent Mikkel Beck has now added more fuel to the fire and said that there was a a big possibilitya that the player could leave the Parisian side this summer.

digne vs moreno

Liverpool have Alberto Moreno as their first choice left-back. Moreno was brought from Sevilla last summer for a sum near a 15 million. Much was expected from the Spaniard and while he hasna t been a a flopa , his performances havena t particularly impressed on a number of occasions. Moreno focuses more on the attack and often leaves the defensive side adding more pressure on the central defenders. We see through the comparison above that Digne is a lot more assured defensively. Getting another youngster with a lot of potential will only prove to be better for both the club and Moreno who would be on his toes to perform better.
