Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo has poured cold water on any suggestions that he might leave Real Madrid, by declaring that he plans to retire at the club.

Ronaldo has been a target of Manchester United as reported by the Telegraph. However, the superstar has expressed his desire to stay at Real Madrid for the rest of his life.

Ronaldo plans to retire at Real Madrid

a My dream is to retire at Real Madrid,a he was quoted as saying by . Goal.com. a If you take care of yourself, you can play until you are 40.

a I want to continue for five of six more years. I plan to continue [with the same] games and goals average.

a I feel good and useful at Madrid, I want to keep winning here.a

Ronaldo expressed his desire to stay put at the Madrid outfit after winning the European award for the most goals scored in a single season — the Golden Boot.

He has now become the first player to win the Golden Boot award a record 4 times.

Manchester United sought to bring a big-name player in the summer, with the report by the Telegraph suggesting that they targeted the Real Madrid super-star as well as FC Barcelona’s Brazil star Neymar.

With Ronaldo having already poured cold water over a reunion with his former club, it will be interesting to see if United continue to pursue a deal for Neymar.

Ronaldo is 30 years of age, and will turn 31 in February. The Portuguese has had a good 2-3 years on the top and if he continues to showcase the same fitness and professionalism that he has done so far in his career, there is little doubting the fact that he will be able to extend his stay at the top for longer.
