Christian Benteke To Ask Aston Villa To Allow Him To Leave Amidst Liverpool FC Interest

Christian Benteke will report back to Aston Villa on Wednesday and tell Tim Sherwood he wants to leave the club with Liverpool FC looking to sign the player, as per reports in the Guardian.

The future of Christian Benteke has been clouded with a lot of speculation as the player is widely acknowledged to be Liverpool FCa s number one target as the club looks to sign a forward in the window.

While Aston Villa are adamant that they will not let the player go for anything below his 32 million GBP release clause, Liverpool FC would not meet the asking price as the club values the player closer to 20 million GBP as per reports in the Telegraph.

With only two years left to his contract, Villa were keen to tie the player down to a longer deal, but, Benteke has refused to sign the deal. It is thought that the refusal to sign the new contract would soften Villaa s stance and a compromise could be reached, but, James Pearce of the Liverpool Echo confirmed that while Liverpool dona t want to pay more than A?25million for the big frontman, Villa have no interest in selling him and are highly unlikely to accept lower offer than the release clause.

The Guardian now reports that the player is keen to tell Aston Villa bosses that he wants to leave the club when he arrives at the club following a summer break on Wednesday.

The reports by the Guardian says:

. Christian Benteke will report back to Aston Villa on Wednesday and tell Tim Sherwood he wants to leave.

Sherwood has reiterated he wants to keep Benteke and within the club there is a feeling that the prospect of playing for Belgium in the European Championship next summer will provide the striker with the motivation to perform at his best if he remains a Villa player.

It is understood, however, that Benteke does not subscribe to that theory and believes that after three successive seasons playing for a club fighting relegation, now is the time to move on. There is no suggestion Benteke will fail to turn up at Villa before Thursdaya s tour to Portugal and no thought has been given to submitting a transfer request but the 24-year-old is hell-bent on securing a move to a club competing at the other end of the table and intends to have a conversation with Sherwood to make it clear how he feels.
