Looking for someone to replace their long-serving custodian, Chelsea are reportedly looking at Stoke City keeper Asmir Begovic as their top option to take Petr Cecha s place.
Begovic is said to be rated at around A?8 million, as he has just one year left on his contract. However, Jose Mourinho would have his work cut out, in trying to lure the Bosnian away from Stoke, as he would not get much first-team action in West London.
The Blues will have to shell-out a considerable amount of money, in the form of wages, in order to bring Begovic to Stamford Bridge. However, Jose Mourinho is reportedly looking for a quality second keeper to keep No.1 Courtois on his toes.
Cech made 16 appearances this season, which is considerably more than the amount of starts that a second choice keeper normally gets. Mourinho will try to lure Begovic with this kind of a deal, according to . The Daily Telegraph.
Petr Cech, who has fallen down the pecking order to Thibaut Courtois in the 2014/15 season, is reportedly looking to move, in order to get more playing time.
The Czech international reportedly has a string of clubs (like Manchester United and PSG), chasing his signature, but he seems to be looking for a move within the London, to stay close to his family.
This leaves him with just Arsenal, who can afford his wages. Cech has also reportedly requested the bosses at the Bridge, to transfer him to the Emirates. However, Mourinho is not too keen on letting him go to the fellow Premier League title challengers.
However, Cecha s transfer also depends on whether the rumoured Courtois move to Real Madrid would take place or not. The Belgian keeper is currently valued at A?73 million, and thus Real is said to be looking at the possibility of signing Manchester United custodian David De Gea.
In this merry-go-round of transfer rumours, it would be interesting to see whether Chelsea can lure a quality keeper like Begovic to The Bridge, as Courtoisa understudy.
