Chelsea FC Linked Wih Manchester United flop Radamel Falcao for A?25m

With the start of transfer window drawing ever closer, all the clubs have already started to make their moves. According to reports in Spain, Chelsea FC and Monaco are in talks regarding the transfer of Radamel Falcao to Stamford Bridge.

It was earlier reported that Jose Mourinho will be bringing in a new striker this summer, given how susceptible Diego Costa is to injuries. Given the disappointing season Falcao had on loan at Manchester United, Monaco are keen to sell the Colombian striker. Mourinho . inquired about Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain last month, but is well aware of the fact that when fully fit and in form, Falcao can be one of the world’s best strikers.

After releasing Didier Drogba, there is even a bigger need for a new striker at Chelsea, who could back up both Costa and Loic Remy in the coming season. Falcao will be desperate to sort out his future before the Copa America, which starts later this month. One thing which might accelerate this deal is the fact that both Radamel Falcao and Jose Mourinho are managed by Jorge Mendes.

Mourinho knows that, for Chelsea to maintain the same level of intensity next season, they will need to strengthen their squad further in the next two months. During Chelsea’s post-season tour in Bangkok Mourinho said, “We like the players, wea re happy with them, Two or three are always coming to the club, thata s normal.”

Falcao who currently earns A?265,000- per week, will need to take a huge pay cut if he is to secure a move to Stamford bridge this summer. It is unlikely that Chelsea FC will pay A?43million that United were asked to pay to make Falcao’s loan move to Old Trafford permanent. Given that Falcao could only muster up 4 goals in 26 appearances for Red Devils last season, Monaco will in all likelihood lower the asking price.

Before moving to AS Monaco two seasons ago, Falcao scored a total of 70 goals in two season for Atletico Madrid and was among the top strikers in the world. He missed the World Cup in Brazil due to a surgery on his right knee in January 2014, effects of which also showed on his form last season.
