Chelsea Receive A Transfer Boost As Inter Striker Hints He Could Leave

Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi has hinted that he could move on in the summer if his current pay doesn’t increase which will be music to the ears of Chelsea as the Londoners had identified him as a potential signing few months back.

The 22-year old apparently wanted a deal worth A?43,000-a-week after he arrived from Sampdoria in the summer of 2013 but is currently earning just A?11,000-a-week at Inter and he clearly isn’t happy with that.

The Argentine said, a If there are other clubs who want me, they should discuss this with Inter. If Inter decide to sell me, Ia ll pack up and go away.

a If they dona t want to, I will stay in Milan where I am really good and Ia m happy. My family here feels like home.

a Regarding my pay, my salary, that I dona t a earn a lota , these are things that are a result of two years ago when I came to Inter.a

Icardi has been a shining light for a disappointing Inter side who find themselves ninth in the league; a long way from a Champions League spot. With 15 goals in 27 Serie appearances, Icardi is 10 goals ahead of Inter’s next highest goalscorer. He is contracted with the club until 2018, so it’ll worry Inter that he is already talking about a move despite having more than three years on his contract.

Manager Roberto Mancini will not want to lose him for a low fee and will desperately try to hold on to his as the Italian is trying to build a team. Inter have struggled in the last few years after a combined spell under Mancini and Mourinho when they won everything there was in club football. Since 2010, they have gone trophyless and hence Mancini was re-hired to build a team from scratch once again.

Chelsea do possess Loic Remy and Didier Drogba as back up strikers to their current first choice Diego Costa. However, the blues will strengthen in the summer if they have the chance to do so. Icardi will not come at a huge price thanks to his low wages. His current market value is somewhere around a 25m that Chelsea can easily afford. Chelsea will face competition from Liverpool however as Brendan Rodgers will want to strengthen their striking department which has looked subdued this season. The team that can provide regular first team football will have the upper hand in signing Icardi as the transfer fee is something that both the clubs can easily afford.
