Chelsea have received a transfer boost in the form of Douglas Costa as the Brazilian recently revealed that he would like to work with Jose Mourinho whom he considers as the best manager.
The Shakhtar Donetsk attacker is ready to move to a bigger league like some of his past teammates and said that he is looking for a new challenge after playing in the Ukranian league for the last five years.
Costa told FourFourTwo,a Ia d be really interested in moving to Chelsea because Ia d be able to achieve everything I want having someone like Jose Mourinho by my side.
a There comes a time when you become sick and tired of playing in the same league. Ia m 24 and I think that ita s worth trying to convince them to let me go away.
a Ita s time to try a new philosophy and Ia m sure Mourinho’s is the best around. Hea s always fighting for trophies.
a Ia ve also got Willian in London a hea s a friend for life. I spent a few days at Fernandinhoa s house after Shakhtar played Manchester United in the Champions League [in December 2013] and I really enjoyed it.
a [If I moved to England] Ia d have the chance to play in the Premier League, the best league in the world.”
Costa also said that nowadays the type of football certain teams play, it’s hard not to get tempted and also commented on his release clause which he thinks is around a 50m, a You never know which team will win and that really impresses me a thata s a factor that always keeps athletes motivated.a
a Willian had all that trouble and his release clause was a 35m,a Costa added. a If you think that mine is even bigger, around a 50m, you can imagine that it wona t be any easier.
a Ia ve also had talks with other sides like Milan and Monaco throughout this time, but none of them have reached the price asked by Shakhtar.a
With Chelsea making the right moves in the transfer market and ending up with a positive net spend, a move for Costa could materialise in the summer. There were reports that Costa was an alternate transfer target for Chelsea in the January transfer window if in case the move for Juan Cuadrado fell through, however, that did not happen.
For Shakhtar, it pretty much sums up what the club is all about as they have fed some of the top European clubs in the last few years after selling the likes of Henrik Mkhitaryan, Willian and Fernandinho in recent seasons.
