Chelsea are reportedly in talks to sign Colombian striker Radamel Falcao, after his loan spell at Manchester United came to an end.
Radamel Falcao joined Manchester United on a season-long loan spell last year, amidst a lot of fanfare. The Colombian striker proved to be a disappointment under Louis van Gaal and United allowed him to return to AS Monaco after the end of his loan period.
According to Sky Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Chelsea have opened talks to sign the former Atletico Madrid forward despite him returning to Monaco. With Didier Drogba set to leave the club this summer and Diego Costa and Loic Remy struggling with fitness issues, Mourinho is on the lookout to sign a striker this summer.
Falcao spent a season on loan at Manchester United where he failed to live up to the expectations. The former Porto star managed to find the back of the net only four times in 26 league appearances during his loan spell. His lacklustre performances throughout the season were enough to convince Van Gaal to allow him to return to Monaco instead of making his move permanent.

THT Verdict: Unlikely
Chelsea maybe on the lookout for a third striker but Falcao joining the club seems to be a bit far-fetched. The Colombian will not come in cheap and going by Mourinhoa s transfer policy last summer, he will be reluctant to shell out a hefty sum for the out-of-form 29-year old. With Diego Costa, Hazard and Remy finding the back of the net regularly, Chelsea will not be looking to sign someone who needs regular playing time. It is more likely that Mourinho will use either Dominic Solanke or Patrick Bamford as the reserve striker.
