Chelsea FC manager Jos Mourinho confirmed that first-choice goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has recovered from his long-term knee injury and is available again for selection ahead of Saturday’s meeting with the Cherries
The Blues continue their road to recovery when they face Premier League new boys Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, having managed to put together a run of positive results since the unfortunate defeat to Stoke City at the Britannia last month.
In more positives news for Chelsea FC, Belgian Thibaut Courtois is fit again after being out of action since the beginning of September with a serious knee injury. However, captain John Terry and midfielder Ramires have not recovered in time for the game, having picked up injuries during the Blues’ trip to Israel to face Maccabi Tel-Aviv in the Champions League
Courtois set for return on Saturday
It has been reported in the English press that Mourinho is keen to give Courtois some game time ahead of Chelsea FC’s crucial Champions League match against FC Porto on Wednesday, and as such, the 23-year-old is expected to start Saturday’s fixture against Bournemouth.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference on Friday, Mourinho said (via chelseafc.com): “Courtois is selected. I havena t told them who is starting, they must be the ones to know but he is selected in the group.
.
“I have to make a decision but clearly sooner or later he will be number one, so if he doesna t play against Bournemouth he will play against Porto. He was our goalkeeper all last season and we know how fundamental he was for us so ita s very important we have him back.”
Terry, Ramires and Falcao ruled out
Chelsea FC captain John Terry has been ruled out of Saturday’s game however, as have midfielder Ramires and striker Radamel Falcao.
Addressing the media ahead of the clash against Bournemouth, Mourinho said: “I was hoping everybody would be fit but ita s not possible. John, Ramires and Falcao are still out.”
The Portuguese also confirmed that striker Diego Costa is selected in the matchday squad, but did not reveal whether or not the Brazil-born Spain international would be in the starting line-up.
