The two big transfer stories involving Chelsea FC – John Stones and Paul Pogba – understandably took up a fair amount of time in manager Jos Mourinho’s pre-match press conference on Friday, leaving no time for questions about the availability of certain members of the first-team squad.
Oscar and Victor Moses could make a return
Brazilian international Oscar and Nigerian winger Victor Moses have both been recovering from minor injuries picked up in training, but could find themselves back in the squad to face Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Gary Cahill is expected to line up alongside French youngster Kurt Zouma, with captain John Terry suspended following his second-half red card at the Hawthorns last Sunday. 19-year-old Brazilian Kenedy completed his move from Fluminense last Saturday, but the game against West Brom came too soon for the youngster, He could find himself in the squad against Crystal Palace this weekend.
New signing Pedro is expected to retain his place following his impressive d but, and compatriot Diego Costa will likely lead the line for the Blues – his hamstring worries now seemingly a thing of the past.
Pardew confirms Bolasie will play his part at the Bridge
Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew will be without captain Mile Jedinak for the trip to Stamford Bridge, but Chelsea FC could be facing the considerable threat of Yannick Bolasie, who is expected to return following the recent unfortunate death of his father.
The English manager is quoted by ESPN FC as saying: “He has lost his father and of course that affects any human being and any family, and he’s dealing with his family. He’ll be involved on Saturday because he wants to be involved. Because his father went to every game. I think that’s good for us, it’ll be good for him and his family.
“Mile has a little hamstring problem and definitely won’t be involved at Chelsea. It looks like he will be out for two-to-three weeks, to me. And he will probably miss the international window, too.”
With nothing to lose going into the game, Pardew will be hoping to play party-pooper as his side aim to upset Chelsea FC in Mourinho’s 200th Premier League game in charge of the club, and his 100th league game at Stamford Bridge.
