Chelsea FC Team Update: Blues receive Terry and Ramires boost ahead of crucial FC Porto clash

Chelsea FC have received a much-needed boost ahead of their do-or-die Champions League clash against FC Porto on Wednesday, with captain John Terry and midfielder Ramires declared fit to play

The Blues need a win against the Portuguese side to ensure they finish as winners of Group G, while a draw will also be enough to get them through to the next round as runners-up.

While those odds would not normally be seen as particularly steep, Chelsea FC have lost four times at Stamford Bridge already this season in the Premier League, with the latest home defeat coming against lowly Bournemouth on Saturday.

Terry and Ramires declared fit to play

Blues’ captain John Terry has been out of action since the club’s previous Champions League game on a terrible pitch in Israel, while Brazil international Ramires was also reportedly the victim of the pitch at the Sammy Ofer stadium.

However, Jos Mourinho announced in his pre-match press conference that both players have recovered and will be fit to face FC Porto on Wednesday. Meanwhile, striker Radamel Falcao also trained with the squad, but is reportedly not yet ready for minutes on the pitch, increasing speculation that he may already have played his last match for the club.

.

“Falcao just had a little period training with us,” Mourinho is quoted as saying by the official Chelsea FC website. “He is still a couple of weeks away from being in condition to play. John Terry and Ramires look fine.”

Terry will likely return straight to the starting line-up on Wednesday, with one of Gary Cahill or Kurt Zouma expected to be dropped to the bench to make way for the former England international.

Mourinho has more options in midfield with the return of Ramires, and the Portuguese might opt to play the former Benfica man alongside Nemanja Mati and Cesc F bregas to combat a lively Porto midfield.
