Chelsea FC star Diego Costa targets Arsenal FC game to turn the season around

The Spain international was back on the scoresheet in midweek against Maccabi Tel-Aviv, and Diego Costa is now targeting a win against Arsenal FC to get the Chelsea FC season back on track

Chelsea FC have endured their worst start to a season in English Premier League history, with three defeats and a draw in their first five league games. However, striker Diego Costa believes this is the best time to face rivals Arsenal FC in the London derby.

With the game scheduled to kick off at lunch-time in England on Saturday, the Spain international has acknowledged the importance of the fixture and recognises the opportunity to boost the side’s confidence.

Diego Costa calls for calm ahead of Arsenal FC test

The Chelsea FC striker has had a poor start to the season by his standards, but showed his considerable ability in the Blues’ Champions League opener by scoring a sumptuous volley in the second half from a Cesc F bregas delivery into the box.

Despite the club’s poor start in the league, Diego Costa is relishing the opportunity to play against Arsenal FC. The 26-year-old is quoted by Goal UK as saying, “There’s nothing better than a game against Arsenal to win and fix this situation.

“If we win then we’ll take a step forward in terms of confidence and points; we know about the importance of the game. We have to remain calm. We have enough quality to fix the situation.

.

“[On Wednesday] it wasn’t just important for me because I scored but also for the defence as we didn’t concede. The most important thing is the victory, which gives us confidence. It’s important to win, to score and not to concede goals. Big teams have to win.”

A win against Arsenal could be the ideal tonic for Chelsea FC

Jos Mourinho has not been shy about confirming the lack of confidence in his first-team squad at the moment, and that more than anything else is largely the cause of the Blues’ poor results at the start of the season.

Chelsea FC have looked every bit a side bereft of confidence, one fearing — even expecting — the worst after conceding a goal, incapable of keeping things tight at the back or creating goalscoring opportunities going forward.

The game against Arsenal FC could just be the catalyst the Blues needed to spark their season into life. ArsA?ne Wenger has still never beaten Mourinho in the league, and the Portuguese will be doing everything in his power to ensure it stays that way.

The players, meanwhile, will be up for the game in terms of their motivation levels, and a win could provide the sort of morale-boost needed to slowly get a floundering Chelsea FC season back on track.

It should make for an exciting London derby this weekend.
