Chelsea FC have had their woes up front and are said to be looking for a replacement for misfiring forward Diego Costa. As a replacement, Mourinho is reportedly looking forward to reuniting with former Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain.
The Argentine currently plies his trade in the Serie A at Napoli, and has been one of the best strikers in top flight Italian football this season. The Argentine is the joint top-scorer with Eder of Sampdoria, with both forwards on 9 goals each at the moment.
On the other hand, after having a good first season, Diego Costa seems to have lost his form completely, while his disciplinary issues persist. His antics on the pitch have dismayed fans and pundits alike, and most of them believe that the Spain international needs to concentrate more on his football.
He has managed to score only two goals in 10 Premier League appearances and given Chelsea FC’s current form, manager Jose Mourinho can ill afford to have as striker who is missing the few chances that his team creates.
The scouts at Chelsea FC have reportedly been alerted about the situation and are looking to get the 27-year-old Argentine to the Premier League, according to the Daily Mirror.
Chelsea FC to scupper another Arsenal FC target?
Higuain has long been associated with a move to Chelsea FC’s cross-town rivals Arsenal FC. However, Gunners manager Arsene Wenger showed faith in the forwards in his squad (Giroud and Walcott) this summer, by not signing anyone from the outside and promoting Walcott from a wingman to a centre forward. The centre forward responsibilities at Arsenal FC have mainly been shared between Walcott and Giroud.
However, a long list of injuries (which includes Walcott) has thrown the speculations wide open for Wenger to go looking for another forward as he has been left rather lean in that section.
.
However, this latest development might mean that Chelsea FC, who have had a reputation of snatching Arsenal FC targets from under the Gunners’ noses, might do the same thing again. As such, it would be interesting to see how this story unfolds in the future transfer markets, and neither Chelsea FC, nor Arsenal FC are likely to give even an inch to each other.
