If the Premier League’s biggest game this weekend needed any more sub-plots, Chelsea FC could oblige by reinstating first-team physios Eva Carneiro and Joe Fearn to their positions in the dug-out for Saturday’s derby at Stamford Bridge.
The pair famously fell out with Blues’ manager Jos Mourinho when they rushed on to the pitch to treat Belgian Eden Hazard in the champions’ opening-day draw against Garry Monk’s Swansea side at Stamford Bridge.
Neither has been seen in the Chelsea FC dugout since, but that could change in the coming days amid reports of talks held between the club and the physios to straighten out the situation.
Carneiro and Fearn could return to Chelsea FC bench
According a report in The Times, first-team physios Eva Carneiro and Joe Fearn are close to making a return to the Blues’ bench after holding talks with the clubs over the past week. While Fearn has been working with the first team at the club’s Cobham training base, Carneiro has not been seen at the club since the incident, making a potential return to the bench that much more difficult for her.
The report claims that the Gibraltar-born doctor might be asked to spend a week reacquainting herself with the players’ conditions before coming back to the dug-out, and there is no indication that she is opposed to resuming her first-team duties.

Meanwhile, The Telegraph claims that Chelsea FC have ordered Dr. Carneiro to report for duty on Friday morning, but that she is yet to make a decision either way.
The FA confirm investigation into Mourinho’s abusive language on the touchline
The Football Association of England have confirmed they are investigating a complaint regarding the Portuguese manager’s use of abusive language from the touchline in the 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge on the opening day of the season, according to a report in The Guardian.
Sky Sports released a full video of the incident, and Mourinho was picked up by the pitch-side microphones yelling the phrase ‘son of a bitch’ in Portuguese, potentially directed at one or both of his physios.
According to the report, Mourinho could face a five-game ban if found guilty. That is the very last thing Chelsea FC need at the moment, and they will be hoping the reconciliatory measures taken to bring Carneiro and Fearn back will help settle the matter for good.
